A Feast of Culture – Highlights from Our Traditional Dish Challenge!

Last week at Read Meta School, our students took part in a wonderful Traditional Dish Challenge, celebrating culture, creativity, and community through food.

Students were asked to choose a traditional dish from their own culture — or a country they were curious about — cook or help prepare it at home, and share a photo of their delicious creations with their form tutors. The challenge sparked great excitement, with families coming together in the kitchen to create everything from fragrant curries and hearty pastas to colourful desserts and traditional sweets.

Submissions poured in, and our teachers were amazed by the creativity, presentation, and effort from all participants. It was truly inspiring to see students embracing the spirit of cultural learning and teamwork.

The winners were announced during our Headteacher Connect on Tuesday, 7th October, and we’re delighted to share some of their amazing photos below!

🏆 Winners by Key Stage:

  • 1st Place: 100 Critter Coins

  • 2nd Place: 75 Critter Coins

  • 3rd Place: 50 Critter Coins

Each winning dish reflected a perfect blend of flavour, family tradition, and creativity.

A big well done to all our students who took part — your enthusiasm and effort made this event a true celebration of culture and learning!
